Position: Spring Boot Technical Specialist (Hands‑on SME)
Department: Software Development – Center of Excellence
Location: San Leandro, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)
Type: Contract, Full‑Time (40+ hours/week)
Reports To: Engagement Manager (FuntoNetwork) / Client Chief Architect
Tech Stack: Spring Boot, Java 17+, MongoDB, Oracle, Kafka, Kubernetes, OpenShift (OCP), BDD, Git Copilot, AI Tools
Regional Strategy: East Bay Engineering Center of Excellence
This role is a senior subject matter expert position embedded at a premier client site in San Leandro, CA. The client is building a next‑generation, cloud‑native platform and requires a deep specialist in Spring Boot who can serve as the go‑to authority for architecture, design, and complex problem resolution. This is not a traditional architect role – we need a hands‑on SME who writes code daily, mentors engineers, and drives technical excellence. The East Bay location offers a collaborative, enterprise‑focused environment with close proximity to client executives and engineering leadership.
Location Requirement:
Core Responsibilities
- Define the role work package: Confirm assigned deliverables, inputs, dependencies, standards, owners, and acceptance criteria.
- Gather specialist inputs: Collect source materials, stakeholder decisions, system details, and operational constraints.
- Perform the specialist analysis: Apply the methods, tools, standards, and professional judgment required for the role.
- Develop assigned deliverables: Produce the role-specific designs, recommendations, configurations, records, or outputs.
- Validate the completed work: Check outputs against requirements, professional standards, risks, and acceptance criteria.
- Complete role handover: Resolve review comments and deliver final files, decisions, open items, guidance, and evidence.
- Review project scope and source materials: Review the opportunity scope, source posting, supporting documents, deadlines, addenda, and client requirements that affect the assigned role.
- Confirm role requirements and dependencies: Identify required inputs, assumptions, constraints, interfaces, decisions, acceptance criteria, and dependencies before beginning assigned work.
- Coordinate project delivery: Work with FuntoNetwork and related consultants to align responsibilities, handoffs, schedules, escalations, and client-facing outputs.
- Prepare assigned deliverables: Produce complete role-specific analysis, documentation, recommendations, configurations, estimates, or technical materials required for the engagement.
- Communicate with stakeholders: Provide clear updates, raise risks and questions promptly, document decisions, and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Support quality and readiness: Participate in reviews, resolve comments, maintain status information, and confirm assigned work is accurate, traceable, and ready for delivery.
